Each week, YA Highway hosts Road Trip Wednesday, a blog carnival in which YA Highwayers discuss a topic on their blogs and invite readers to do the same. This week's RTW topic is:
Which book character would you like most as a next door neighbor?
I want neighbors who will wave hello but not trap me for an hour-long conversation right when I pull in the driveway; neighbors who will keep an eye on my house, but aren't super nosy; neighbors like:
Neville Longbottom, HARRY POTTER
Neville is quiet and minds his own business, but he's also brave and virtuous. He won't let baddies — Muggle or wizard — sneak in my window. And as a Hogwarts professor, think of all the interesting dinner parties he'd have!
Anna Oliphant, ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS
Anna is smart, funny, and loves to go to the movies! Plus, she already has a best friend and a boyfriend, so she'd be as busy as me and not complain if we couldn't hang out all the time.
Scarlett and Rosie March, SISTERS RED
These girls are not only kick-butt, they like baking and watching movies, too. And as president of the Neighborhood Watch, Scarlett would protect our 'hood from stray Fenris. Between her and Neville, I'm living in an evil-wizard-and-werewolf-free-zone, folks!
Which book character would you pick as your next door neighbor?

Didn't even think about Neville! YES. And I totally thought I was already following you! Clicking now...
Good arguments there and I love how you picked Neville.
YES. That is one awesome neighborhood!
Haha! Neville was on my list too! As were Luna Lovegood, Hermione and Ron, Harry and Ginny, and Professor Dumbledore. :) Love it!
YAY Neville. Tell me if he and Luna get together. BECAUSE THEY SHOULD. ahem. what? Sorry, repressed desires... >.>
Um, greatest neighborhood EVER?! Oh Neville. Oh baking. Oh movies.
Anna FTW! She would be such a great neighbour. Not snarky or annoying, and helloooo movie dates. And Neville would be so quiet! Great choices!
Yay to Anna! She's the coolest. :)
I'm making my way through Anna and the French Kiss right now and Anna and I would totes be best friends. She had me at her love for movies! And I was thinking about saying the March sister, too! Silas was also on my short list.
Okay, I've been meaning to read SISTERS RED, but the fact that they bake is the added incentive I need. :D Good choices!
I like your reasoning--I want neighbors who won't conversation-trap me, too. I love Anna Oliphant, esp. if she would make me chocolat chaud. :)
If you kick Anna out of the neighborhood, maybe you can have Etienne all to yourself. Protection from Neville and Scarlett and a hot boyfriend with an accent? You win.
Neville would be a fantastic neighbor! And Anna... she's so cool and real. Great picks, Abby!
Haha I LOVE Neville. My pick was Finnikin from Melina Marchetta's FINNIKIN OF THE ROCK
I'm waiting in an incredibly long library queue for Anna and the French Kiss at the moment! From what everyone has said it sounds like a completley charming book :-)
And Neville! I hadn't thought of Neville! He'd be both considerate and intriguing at the same time.
I wish I could have Neville as a neighbor, he is just too awesome.
Nevile is my favorite...did you know he grew up and got hot

I've seen a lot of Harry Potter love, but not Neville yet! I wouldn't mind going to his dinner parties.
