America

A moment of remembrance...

For the lives lost on 9/11, for the innocence shattered, for the children who grow older each year without a mother or father to measure their progress.

For Todd Beamer and the passengers and crew of flight 93, for their "Let's roll" attitude, which undoubtedly saved countless American lives. For the brave and unselfish acts, too numerous to name, which prove that while some are evil, many are good.

For the firemen, police officers, and volunteers who went up as burning flesh rained down.

For the Soldiers and Sailors and Airmen and Marines who fight in a distant country, far from love and familiarity, to capture the men responsible for this most heinous act. My brother is one of them.

For the citizens of America, who at our worst, became our best.

And for you, for remembering this day with me.

I have absolute chills, and I'm crying as I read this. Absolutely beautiful and powerful, remembering not just the tragedy but the heroes who rose to face it.

Thanks, Glenna. :) And thanks for tweeting it. I have so many memories of the day itself, as well as the weeks and months surrounding the tragedy, marked both by pride in my countrymen and women in handling the disaster, as well as the obvious pain and loss.
