And the Academy Award goes to...

The contest is over and our winner is:

RACHEL BATEMAN!

Congratulations, Rachel! Maybe it isn't exactly an Oscar, but a book is almost as good! Please email me which book you'd like along with your address and I will mail it out next week.

Have a great weekend everyone! I am heading home tomorrow and looking foward to watching the Oscars on Sunday.

Any predictions? Personally, I'm hoping THE HURT LOCKER beats the pants off of AVATAR.

Yay! That's me! Woo-hoo. I love winning things. Thanks for the giveaway. I will email you now. :)

I also hope The Hurt Locker beats Avatar. Luckily, it seems like the academy sometimes considers past events in its awards...and James Cameron was such a jerk last time he won, I don't think they will give the big awards to him again. Avatar will probably win all the technical awards though.

I actually saw Avatar just an hour ago. It was OK, nothing special really. 7/10, perhaps. I haven't seen The Hurt Locker, though.

Rachel - Well, we got our wish! And I was so happy to see the writer of the novel for which the movie was based on thanked, AND that Katherine Bigalow thanked our service members several times!

Erik - I thought AVATAR was beautiful, but I don't understand why people are so obsessed with it - to me, the story just didn't live up to the visuals. As the sister of an Army Infantryman, THE HURT LOCKER came off as very realistic to me, not necessarily in every mission they went on (there's one part in the movie that feels a little unrealistic), but in capturing the 'essence' of the American soldier.
