As I was going over my 2009 resolutions, renewing some (like 3 books per month), scrapping others, and creating new ones, I noticed one that made me blanch:
I will complete my book by April.
BA HA HA HA.
What a joke.
It almost makes me ashamed to even tell you that was my resolution last year. What was I thinking?
This time last year, my book was about 100 pages long and MEH-EH-SEE! I had been working on it since late August/early September 2008 (even though I've been writing full-time since September 2007, I began writing and set aside several other novels before the idea for this one hit me) and was nowhere near completion! Good grief.
I am now very, very, very nearly finished with my book and still wrestling with self-doubt and the monster that is editing, but I can guarantee you it won't be this time next year when I am finished.
Here are my 2010 resolutions for THE TABBY CATT:
- Continue to write blogs regularly (my aim is twice a week, Monday and Thursday)
- Create a more professional look for the blog
- Get http://www.abbystevens.com/ working properly (I still have to tweak several settings)
- Gain readers (I want to set a number for this but have no idea what is reasonable... may update this after some thought)
- Establish connections with other writer bloggers
Wish me luck!
Here's hoping the first week of 2010 is a productive, happy one for everybody!

Thank you, Heather! I need to come up with some ideas for a more professional look for the blog - maybe you have some ideas?
Best of luck in reading! Last year I only read 20 when my goal was 36, but any reading is good regardless! I do think once I send my book out to beta-readers I am just going to read every day for a month or so, so maybe that will help me reach my goal this year!
